Springtime Conundrum

This is the longest I've been away from Hadley Gets Crafty since its inception way back when. Since my last missive I've been traveling, working hard on my collection of patterns, tech editing some secret projects from here and there, and trolling the fashion lines that came out this season.

My sweaters of the current collection are best suited for structured, kind of 40s-era looks. For the most part, that's where I cull my inspiration. For instance, I just designed a sweater that'll look killer with these shoes from Bass Loves Rachel Antonoff:
Ack! I want them! Should I spend over 100 bucks on a pair of red and white penny loafers with hearts?

More and more, though, I want to make knitwear that would look great as an extra layer on a Rodarte garment. Like this (gotta love a gorgeous contrasting peplum!):
Or this:
Or a shawl that would complement Gudrun Sjödén's most recent collection.
I especially love this get-up:

And I'd love to make some gauzy things that would go well with dresses like these from Kenzo:

I know they're kind of '90s, but I like them anyhow:

Where are you finding your inspiration these days?

Oh no! My cover is blown! hehe

I'm trying to write the blog in the voice of an older woman with a lot of accumulated wealth and time and gardening know-how.
